this is where time goes to die
keep me up all night a moments gone by
i haven’t slept but my skin is awake
his breath is a substance my body can’t help but take
hung in the space in between
touch expectation remembrance it brings me
to my knees
be still my heart
these time zones and rivers hold our hands so far apart
time wails and dies as they fly to the other side of mountain ranges muddy fields open skies
suspended in a wormhole that spits me back and forth between those last sweet moments and the next time I touch down to you
this is where time goes to die
my roots gasp for air find your breath
wrap around each exhalation
sprouting now in new directions
i miss you more than Im brave enough to say
september is dragging her feet
chest counting the days with every heart beat
i tired hard not to look in your eyes
this is the place where time goes to die

Black Snake
04:41
|
|||
Black snake, black snake
carving through the land
scaring life away
breathing in tar sand
Black smoke, black smoke
choking out the light
in the shadows, in the dark
is where we take up the fight
Slithering beneath the earth
from magic northern realms
the snake is just the messenger
of demons at the helm
who from their corporate fortress
humans' legacy decide
conceal with screens and flashing lights
the quickly rising tide
it's coming, oh it's coming
the witches of the world
who haven't yet been burned
are rising up to fight the
executioners in turn
they summon up the spirits of
the soils and of the tress
who now, exploited for to long,
are shaking themselves free
the ground is shaking
the sky is breaking
the earth won't stand for the mess we're making
maybe none will be spared
the wrath of crusty earth
the demons and the witches
all bear the human curse
but maybe when the skies are blue again
we'll start anew
grasp life for the many from
the clenched jaws of the few
we're coming, oh we're coming
Black snake, black snake
carving through the land
scaring life away
breathing in tar sand
Black smoke, black smoke
choking out the light
in the shadows, in the dark
is where we take up the fight

He'll Never Love You
06:18
|

you can keep him up all night
give him space or hold him tight
but men are always telling lies
they’re so good at telling lies
you look at me and look right through
i try to hold on but I’m falling into you
bite my tongue keep my eyes wide
feel you moving inside and I’m scared too
its not fair but its true
he’ll never love you like you want him to
its not fair but its true

Tree of Life
02:59
|
|||
I've gotta get out
of the place where the trucks crawl to sleep and wait for the night
I've gotta escape
to the river up north that stares out through the eyes of a snake
If I were left up to my own devices
I’d probably plant trees every day in the sunlight
instead I work to make money to give to my
landlords and bosses who left up to their own devices
drain rivers and clearcut the forests
I don’t think I can still swim in the snake
I always wear black cuz this life is a god damn wake
I’ve gotta get out
of this place where the walls watch each move with their cold glassy eyes
I’ve gotta escape
to the mountains where even the sun hides behind the moons face
i try so hard not to run away
but Ive got to leave this parched haunted bay
the sawtooths they beckon to me
but ghosts follow everywhere
choking out the sweet clean air
there is no where to run

Song For Ricky
02:57
|
|||
inside
waiting for release
pacing
spilling words to me
pen pressed
to the page the ink
tracing memories
hold them close now they’re
FADING
outside
stamped with bloody ink
fingers
letter opening
gulls fly
screeching over head
wish was me instead
hold me close now I’m
WAITING
for the collapse
twist open bars
boil down the herbs
slather on scars
left by the lash
out of the ash
fire to the prison
industrial complex
soon you’ll be released
but you will never be free
your voice
comes thin through the line
minutes
click so quickly by
our eyes
ever fiercely dry
pacing the outside
you still wait inside
TIME TO CHOOSE SIDES

Seasons

i once travelled to a world with no cops
no one paid rent or worked for a boss
and every table was built for as many
as wanted to sit and share a meal
and there our friends who were stolen by fire
bullets and alcohol
walked and laughed among us again
grew grey and taught us oh so much more
so when I
say see you there
I mean to see you when we sail beyond
the waves that bring our old gods to their knees (fuck the police)
see you there in that place where no one sleeps outside
unless they are sleeping under stars where they please
yeah I hope to see you there
there the spirits were left in the ground
extraction came right to a halt
the land was given back to the elders
from whom was so violently torn
and our loved ones who’d been locked behind bars
came home to our families
we swore to each other we’d keep ourselves safe
and we swore we would keep ourselves free
so when I say see you there
I mean to see you on the other side of
the flames that burn the castles and estates (fuck the state)
see you there when we take the streets to save our own damn lives
how many more deaths will it take
friends, I know I’ll see you there
so tell me the movements not
just in my head
cerulean sky
after streets run with red
in the rubble of this world
let us arise
when you promise to see me there
would you look in my eyes
