Almond Song 02:34
Cm Picking bones Bare of sweet meat Drilling down In the parched heat G# Machines are thirsty G Cm We give them what they demand G# G The market has a green thumb But an iron hand Cm Force a smile Feel better Show it off To the hungry G# Crowds that are gathering G Cm with gleaming eyes and teeth G# G Begging for more Stomping their feet Cm G# A# gm Ab Fm G G7 C D Sweet fruit grows on wilting vines G Em Aquifers bled dry C D Remember you have power G Em Limited to what you buy C So bow your heads D And get in line G Em At the checkout stand C D You buy your own freedom with G Cm Each dollar that you spend Cm/Bb/G#/G x 2 Oil rigs (shut them off) Drill for water Almond groves (it’s too much) In the valley The last of the water We can’t let them waste Rally your neighbors Come on make haste In the fields (raise your arms) Desert whispers Time has come (ready, aim) For the city The prices are high But the cost is much higher We burned the estates Now the hills are on fire The last of the water We can’t let them waste Rally your neighbors Come on make haste

I sing this song to the ocean To the waves that crash on the sand A symphony of water Hear it rushing, breaking now Roaring loud to drown me out These feelings swirling round In my head Bite my tongue to keep them in I know its too soon To tell you that I love you So I sing it to the ocean I sing this song to the forest As pine needles fall from the sky A silent bed for my secrets If you can’t see me falling now Maybe I won’t make a sound But these feelings swirling round In my head Bite my tongue to keep them in I know its too soon To tell you that I love you So I sing it to the forest D# Bb But i hope that one hundred years from now F C I've shouted these words and sent them soaring D# Bb Out over the woods and the deserts F And into your home by the sea D# F As the daylight grows longer Bb F D# As flowers spring up from their seeds D# I know I’m falling are you falling for me? I sing this song to the desert Thirsty but teeming with life Wildflowers blooming Whisper softly to the ground Here my secret can’t me found D# / G x 3 But these feelings swirling round These feelings swirling round In my head Bite my tongue to keep them in I know its too soon (drop out) To tell you that I love you So I sing it to the desert

G He sat beside my garden bed B Whispered year after year C Told me he’d protect me said D I had nothing to fear G When I awoke each morning B I would hear him say C You don’t need those spines now honey D I will keep you safe G These spines are ancient armor B Adornments of my past C I learned them in the jaws of snakes D They taught me to adapt G By the garden bed he coaxed B Though I tried to stay sharp C He gently pried each one away D Dd C B Then broke my cactus heart Em B C B In his false embraces I dropped my final spine A marvel of his science My skin no longer mine Some will sing his praises But his heart was full of hate Eugenist ideations Em B C D With science as your bait The best thing I can say of men Is years are never kind Burbank he grew older and he passed on in good time I whispered to my branches The memories I know We’ll always need our spines And now it’s time to grow Those spines are ancient armor Adornments of my past I learned them in the jaws of snakes They taught me to adapt So don’t you get too close Cuz baby I stay sharp There’s no man in this world that I’d let Touch my cactus heart

Am The rains are coming E Can you hear the thunder roar Dm F The seeds and the saplings C E Am Are fed by this cold downpour Am But in the City E The people sleep outside Dm F C The first to get hit by the quickly E Am rising tides F D The time is now G E What are we waiting for A F The flood is rising Bb E Am And it’s just outside your door Then in the summer Fire will come with wind Tearing through forests So new life is born again But to the City Flee those whose homes are lost It’s never the ones to blame Who bare the costs The time is now What are we waiting for The fire is burning Bb E Dm And it’s just outside your door Dm Forged in the fire G Fed by the flood C We know who you are and F We’re coming for blood Dm After the fire G After the flood C Let monuments crumble F There will be blood F/D/G/E/A/F/Bb/E/Am So now we’re coming Can you hear us in the streets Don’t think you can stop us With borders or jails or police We’ve learned our lessons The Earth teaches us well Unafraid of the water Unafraid of hell The time is now We’re not waiting anymore We know who you are And we’re just outside your door

The Fire 02:46
In the dirt with the fawning lilies When the ash settles We will too Hiccuping flames will turn to smoke Settle like the sun on the far horizon It’s not time to rise It’s not time to rise When the threat of flood is gone In the dusty ground that we call home When the heat cracks our bones Spreading our seeds in hopes of sprouting Is it finally time Is it finally time I think it’s time Cast off your shriveled husks Sink in your roots And rise up Ready your armor then Prepare the medicine At dawn we ride again There’s no time to waste! Come on friends it’s time to rise It’s no longer time to hide We’ve been waiting all our lives They are strong but we are stronger in the ashes we will thrive We will fight back to survive When the fire sets us free Tend the garden pull the weeds Don’t they know they buried seeds? Will you come and fight with me? What we sow will come to be We are all we’ll ever need I think it’s time Cast off your shriveled husks Sink in your roots And rise up

The Flood 04:17
If the creek could speak I’d ask what is in your dreams When you’re buried in the dark When you’re running under streets Do you dream of your old friends? Chinook and Coho salmon At home in your headwaters They’d spawn and lay to rest When you wake up under bars Terrorized by sounds of cars How do you comfort yourself? x3 From the nightmares of your present When the creek does sing Do we listen to its song Know that it will still be here When we are dead and gone When the creek does sing Do we listen to its song If we break down its cage Can we still right our wrongs When the ground does shake The culverts will all crumble The clouds will call a storm And the surge will be a flood Then the creek will rush From the hills down to the bay Taking concrete in its currents Carrying all our fears away When the creek is free Reunited it will be With the whispers of the willows And the calls of black phoebes Streaming water over stones Your people returned to home Feel the sun upon your shores In the land where you are known Crossing creek will be a ford The shellmounds will be restored This is the freedom we seek x3 Liberate Temescal Creek When the creek does roar Will we heed its call It’s the lifeblood of this land It cannot be held by walls When the creek does roar Will we heed its call Know that daylight is its birthright It will bring us to the fall We sing this song for you I bring all my gratitude Let us sing to the future x3 Where the old gods will renew

Sabotage 04:52
Going to the badlands Looking for a bad time Gone until they send me home Going to the badlands Looking for a bad time Gone until they send me home Our friends they had a vision Took up arms and drew the lines Following their angels But the devil Was close behind Now the smoke is clearing My friends did not come home I’m going down to free them Tracing steps to the unknown Going to the badlands Looking for a bad time Gone until they send me home Going to the badlands Looking for a bad time Gone until they send me home I’m here in the valley of the Shadow of death But evil—I do fear No one above me for to welcome me home But there’s nothing For me here Going to the badlands Looking for a bad time Gone until they send me home Going to the badlands Looking for a bad time Gone until they send me home Going to the badlands (SABOTAGE) Looking for a bad time First I shot the warden (shot him down!) Wrangled with the guards (on the ground!) Pulled the keyring from his belt And ran right for the yard The bullets fell like raindrops Bloodstains bloom in Spring I’m ready to leave the Badlands I’m ready to be free Going to the badlands (SABOTAGE) Looking for a bad time Gone until they send me home Going to the badlands Looking for a bad time Gone until they send me home

about

This album was born of fire and flood, of love and rage in the midst of overlapping crises. Through an ongoing pandemic, housing instabilities, police murders, and climate chaos we made time to come together as friends and comrades to fight for liberation and to imagine as co-creators a better and more just world through our music and in the streets. We're releasing this album in the midst of a genocide being waged against Palestinian people, and we urge our listeners to demand the liberation of Palestine and the return of all stolen lands to indigenous peoples.
