Hella Giggly

I’ve got a skip in my step and
I’m ready to go travelin’
and I won’t hold my breath
till I see you again
I’ll breath in the air
breathe in the trainyards and adventures and
when I see you next
I hope that I’ll be yours and you’ll be mine oh
It’s been a while
since I used words like giddy
but you know since we’ve met
I’ve been hella giggly too
so goodbye for now
in the end I know that you’ll be my
friend
So skippin’ on down the road
I’ll dream of seeing you again
with every note
pretend you’re singing with me
with my single-use camera
taking photos all addressed to you
can’t say with my words
I love you hope you love me too

Dear Future Self

Dear future me
I’m writing this letter in desperation
trying to make some pitch that
hasn’t been made before
all around me are
grownups
who’ve given up on everything
that once gave them hope for tomorrow
Yes we all know
the youth are the future
gonna save us all
such a load of bullshit
another excuse to give up stop fighting
and it’s still your job
to leave your grandkids a better world
to leave them some hope for tomorrow
Please listen to me
I’m young now growing older every hour
and I’m scared to death
of growing up and giving up like them
so if you get this letter
don’t stop trying to make the world better
don’t give up hope for tomorrow
You know the ones
who give me hope
are the elders who keep dreaming
and fighting for a better world
for me to have my kids in
I know it’s hard
but future me know I believe in you
believe in a better tomorrow
Dear future self
I’m writing this letter for my generation
scared shitless by our apathy
we need some inspiration
so quit your job
or start a squat
I promise you will be okay
we can build a better tomorrow today

Black Snake

Black snake, black snake
carving through the land
scaring life away
breathing in tar sand
Black smoke, black smoke
choking out the light
in the shadows, in the dark
is where we take up the fight
Slithering beneath the earth
from magic northern realms
the snake is just the messenger
of demons at the helm
who from their corporate fortress
humans' legacy decide
conceal with screens and flashing lights
the quickly rising tide
it's coming, oh it's coming
the witches of the world
who haven't yet been burned
are rising up to fight the
executioners in turn
they summon up the spirits of
the soils and of the tress
who now, exploited for to long,
are shaking themselves free
the ground is shaking
the sky is breaking
the earth won't stand for the mess we're making
maybe none will be spared
the wrath of crusty earth
the demons and the witches
all bear the human curse
but maybe when the skies are blue again
we'll start anew
grasp life for the many from
the clenched jaws of the few
we're coming, oh we're coming
Black snake, black snake
carving through the land
scaring life away
breathing in tar sand
Black smoke, black smoke
choking out the light
in the shadows, in the dark
is where we take up the fight
